"Ambedkar No Less Than God": Amit Shah's "Fashion" Remark Is Blasted by Opposition

The BJP has claimed that the opposition party was using cheap methods and distributing cropped films, while the Congress has accused Mr. Shah of denigrating the man who drafted the Constitution.

Delhi, New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah's comments about BR Ambedkar in his speech to the Rajya Sabha yesterday have sparked a huge political controversy. The BJP has claimed that the opposition party was using cheap methods and distributing cropped films, while the Congress has accused Mr. Shah of denigrating the man who drafted the Constitution. Opposition MPs held up pictures of BR Ambedkar and chanted "I want the Home Minister to apologize" at Parliament this morning.

Taking BR Ambedkar's name has become a "fashion" these days, Mr. Shah told the House during the debate commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Constitution. "Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar!" "Abhi ek fashion ho gaya hai." "It has become fashionable to say Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar," as in the phrase "Bhagwan ka lete to saat janmon tak swarg mil jata." They would have received a spot in heaven if they had spoken God's name so frequently," he remarked.

"Take his name 100 times more," the Home Minister continued, "but I want to say what are your sentiments about him." He claimed that because he disapproved of the Jawaharlal Nehru-led administration, BR Ambedkar was forced to leave the first Cabinet. He added that BR Ambedkar was dissatisfied with the government's policy approach and stance on Article 370. "Ambedkar ji has stated multiple times that he was not satisfied with the treatment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes," he said. "He wanted to quit (the cabinet), he was given an assurance, and when the assurance was not fulfilled, he resigned," said Shah.

The Congress harshly criticized the Home Minister's comments. In a subtle jab, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, stated, "Those who adhere to Manusmriti would naturally be troubled by Ambedkar."

President of the Congress Mallikarjun Kharge claimed that Mr. Shah's "insult" of BR Ambedkar demonstrated once more how "against the Tricolour" and "opposed the Ashok Chakra" the BJP and its ideological father RSS were.

"Instead of using the Constitution, they wished to apply Manusmriti. They despise Babasaheb Ambedkar because he prevented this from happening. The ministers in the Modi government need to realize that Babasaheb is a god to millions of people like me. For Dalits, tribal people, the underprivileged, the backward, and minorities, he is a Messiah.

Today, the Congress will bring up this matter before Parliament. In order to discuss this matter, Party MP B Manickam Tagore has made the decision to file an adjournment petition.

"The Home Minister cynically downplayed Dr. Ambedkar's significance during the 75th anniversary of the Constitution discussion, claiming that it had become "fashion" for the Congress Party to use his name frequently, likening it to calling upon God. By implying that anyone who use Dr. Ambedkar's name as much as the Congress does will reach "swarg" (heaven), he further trivialized his enormous accomplishment. According to Mr. Tagore, this blasphemous comment is an attempt to discredit Dr. Ambedkar's crucial contribution to the writing of the Indian Constitution, which ensures equality, justice, and dignity for all citizens, particularly the underprivileged groups. The Congress MP told NDTV that the Home Minister needs to apologize to the country.

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate posted a video of a portion of Mr. Shah's address and stated, "Babasaheb can only be insulted by a man who hates the Constitution. Why is Babasaheb's name so despised among Sangh people?

The Congress's accusation has been discredited by the BJP. In a post on X, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated, "This is just another cheesy move by the Congress Party. Amit Shah Ji, the home minister, was referring to the way the Congress humiliated Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and never adhered to his principles while repeatedly abusing his name.

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari referred to Ms. Shrinate as a "fake news factory" in response to her tweet. "Amit Shah ji was exposing the hypocrisy of your party, Congress! A clipped video won't alter Congress's hatred of Baba Saheb Ambedkar.

Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, also criticized the Home Minister's comments. Amit Shah is making fun of Bab Saheb Ambedkar, as you can see. These members of the BJP are so conceited that they have no regard for anyone.Baba Saheb, Amit Shah ji, is a deity to all the children in our nation. "We don't know about heaven, but you wouldn't allow the Dalits and oppressed to live on earth if Baba Saheb's Constitution didn't exist," he remarked.
