UN chief Antonio Guterres denounces the incident in Pakistan that killed forty-two

An attack that killed people in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has been sharply denounced by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

Three passenger cars were the target of the gunmen's attack on Thursday, which left at least 42 people dead and 20 injured, according to the Xinhua news agency.

At a daily briefing on Friday, the Secretary-General's spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, emphasized that strikes against civilians are unacceptable.

Guterres offered the Pakistani government and the victims' families his sincerest sympathies.

He urged the Pakistani authorities to look into the matter and make sure all involved are held accountable.

There have previously been violent confrontational battles between the Sunni majority around the Shia-dominated Parachinar area.

Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan's Federal Minister, denounced the attack and said the federal administration communicates with the KP province government on a regular basis.

"The previous week has been challenging and distressing. We are now in continuous communication with the KP government and witness a fresh incidence every day," he stated.

Asif Ali Zardari, the president of Pakistan, strongly denounced the terrible event and declared that "attacking innocent passengers is a cowardly and inhumane act."

In the Kurram district's long-running sectarian strife between the Shia and Sunni clans, Thursday's strike is among the bloodiest.

At a "peace march" earlier this month, hundreds of locals gathered in Parachinar to demand that the government improve security for the 800,000 people living in Kurram district, more than 45% of
