Trump's third attempt at assassination? "Iran Asset" Accused of Murder Plotting

Trump was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt in July and will be back in the White House in January.

The nation's elite Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has accused a "Iranian asset" of plotting to assassinate Donald Trump, the US president-elect who has already escaped two assassination attempts. The Republican leader was shot in the ear during an assassination attempt in July and is scheduled to return to the White House come January.

Farhad Shakeri was described by the Justice Department as a "Iranian asset" who was assigned by the Iranian government to plan Trump's murder on October 7. According to an official statement, Shakeri, 51, allegedly informed police that he had no intention of coming up with a plot to kill Trump within the time window the IRGC had set. Iran has refuted the accusations.

"The Justice Department has charged an asset of the Iranian regime who was tasked by the regime to direct a network of criminal associates to further Iran's assassination plots against its targets, including President-elect Donald Trump," stated Attorney General Merrick B. Garland.

The IRGC has been classified as a terrorist group by the United States.

The accusations, according to FBI director Christopher Wray, show that Iran still targets Americans, including Trump and other public figures who oppose the Iranian regime. "The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been conspiring with criminals and hitmen to target and gun down Americans on US soil and that simply won't be tolerated," he stated.

According to the statement, Shakeri was deported in 2008 after being found guilty in a robbery case. He had arrived in the US as a youngster. Prosecutors think Shakeri is now in Iran.

In the criminal complaint against him, Shakeri—who is listed as an Afghan national—is also accused of paying two men in New York, whom he had met while incarcerated, to murder a US citizen of Iranian descent who had openly opposed the Iranian government. Additionally indicted for their alleged involvement in the murder conspiracy are Jonathan Loadholt and Carlisle Rivera, both of whom reside in New York.

Iran refutes the accusation.

The accusations that Iran planned to kill Trump have been dismissed as "totally unfounded" by the country's foreign ministry. The Iranian Foreign Ministry "rejects allegations that Iran is implicated in an assassination attempt targeting former or current American officials," the ministry's spokeswoman, Esmaeil Baghaei, said in a statement.

Dangers and Automated Dogs

The US Secret Service has made defending the president-elect its top mission after he survived two assassination attempts and is now headed to the most powerful office. The Mar-a-Lago home in Florida owned by Trump is being patrolled by robotic canines.

At an earlier attempt on Trump's life at a rally in Pennsylvania in July, a bullet had penetrated his ear. Three months later, shots fired near the former president at the Florida golf club were reported as part of a second attempt. This time, Trump was not hurt.

Trump said in his victory speech that he was told God had spared his life for a reason after the election results on November 6 made it apparent he would run for a second term. "And that reason was to save our country and to restore America to greatness," he'd stated.
