The most recent rumor regarding this phone series indicates that it will receive an improvement in terms of how updates are done at the most basic level as the anticipated January debut of the Samsung Galaxy S25 draws near.

The Galaxy S25 phones will receive A/B updates, sometimes referred to as seamless updates, according to tipster @chunvn8888 (via SamMobile). These upgrades include more minor security patches and fixes in addition to new Android versions.

The term "A/B" describes how the present program (A) continues to function while the subsequent software update (B) is downloaded and installed on a different storage partition. As you continue to use your phone, the majority of the laborious work is done in the background.

Although a reboot is still necessary to apply the update, it takes less time because much of the installation process has already been completed, saving you time spent watching a progress bar move across the screen.

If the forecast proves to be correct, Samsung has taken a while to deploy A/B updates on the Galaxy series, as Google first launched the feature for Android back in 2016.

The Samsung Galaxy A55, which was released earlier this year, also has this feature, meaning the Galaxy S25 isn't the first Samsung phone to acquire it. However, this would be the first time it appeared on a flagship Samsung phone.

Since A/B functionality cannot be introduced to a phone later, it must be included into the hardware itself, as SamMobile notes. Depending on the device's lifespan, a phone may or may not have A/B capabilities.

If Samsung follows its 2024 launch timetable in 2025, three Galaxy S25 phones should be available in January. Numerous leaks have already surfaced, ranging from important internal specifications to the anticipated color variations.
