The 'Manhattan Project' of this era, according to Donald Trump, may be 'DOGE'.
US President-elect Elon Musk and Indian-American businessman Vivek Ramaswamy will head the 'Department of Government Efficiency' in the Trump administration, the US president-elect said Wednesday. Trump claims that the two would work with the White House and Office of Management and Budget to advance extensive structural transformation and will offer "advice and guidance" from outside the government. The Department of Government Efficiency, or "DOGE," is a new division established under Donald Trump’s administration, aimed at streamlining government operations. Proposed by Elon Musk and championed by Trump, DOGE seeks to reduce bureaucracy, eliminate excessive regulations, cut wasteful spending, and reorganize federal agencies. The department’s acronym also shares its name with Dogecoin, the cryptocurrency popularized by Musk.
While specific plans for the department's operations remain unclear, Trump has tasked Musk and Ramaswamy with leading this mission. He likens DOGE’s potential impact to that of the "Manhattan Project," the World War II initiative that brought together the U.S., UK, and Canada to develop the first nuclear weapons, signaling the high ambitions he holds for the department’s transformative potential.
According to Bloomberg, Musk may have a conflict of interest because his companies, SpaceX and Tesla, have billions of dollars in federal contracts and have profited from federal spending, such as infrastructure investments and electric vehicle tax credits.
Elon Musk's remarks
The "DOGE" will cause "shockwaves through the system and anyone involved in government waste," according to a statement from Elon Musk.
"This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people!" added the politician.
For the sake of ultimate transparency, the ardent Trump supporter also stated that all of the 'DOGE''s acts will be made public online.

"Please inform us if the public believes that we are omitting something crucial or unnecessary! Additionally, we'll have a ranking for the most ridiculously foolish uses of your taxes. "This will be incredibly entertaining and tragic at the same time," he remarked.
