Today, the BJP shared a footage of airport security frisking Maharashtra Deputy president Minister Devendra Fadnavis' bags and made fun of Shiv Sena (BT) president Uddhav Thackeray, a day after the political controversy surrounding a routine inspection of his luggage.The ruling party claimed that "some leaders have a habit of showing off" without mentioning Mr. Thackeray. They also argued that Mr. Fadnavis did not cause a stir over the luggage check.
In a post on X, the Maharashtra BJP said that although Mr. Fadnavis' baggage were inspected in Yavatmal on November 7 and Kolhapur on November 5, he chose not to raise a fuss. The BJP made fun of the opposition bloc's "save Constitution" slogan by stating that action must be taken in order to uphold the Constitution.
Yesterday, a video that went viral on social media showed Mr. Thackeray interrogating an officer while conducting a bag check in Yavatmal. "You are carrying out your responsibilities, therefore I won't stop you. I'm doing the same. Look for anything you want to look for. However, did you look inside Amit Shah's, Narendra Modi's, or Devendra Fadnavis' bags? You hear Mr. Thackeray say.
Sanjay Raut, a Rajya Sabha MP and close adviser to Mr. Thackeray, stated that they have no issue with searches as long as they are conducted "impartially". "But, where Eknath Shinde and (Deputy Chief Ministers) Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis are contesting, ₹ 25 crores have already reached...," he claimed.
