The attorney for Saira Banu and AR Rahman speaks out about their alleged connection to bassist Mohini Dey: "The choice was not made hastily."

The attorney for AR Rahman and Saira Banu has spoken out over internet rumors that the composer's bassist Mohini Dey is responsible for their split.

After 29 years of marriage, AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, announced their separation Tuesday night. Interestingly, bassist Mohini Dey, who has played with Rahman for years, also announced the dissolution of her marriage on the same day. Rahman and Saira's lawyer denied any connection between the two instances after they were reported. Rahman-Saira's attorney discusses the Mohini Dey connection
"There is no connection at all," attorney Vandana Shah stated in an interview with Republic TV. This choice was made independently by Saira and Mr. Rahman. On Tuesday night, Rahman and Saira Banu declared their split, citing "significant emotional strain in their relationship" as the reason.

Mohini, 29, is a member of Gaan Bangla's Wind of Change and a bassist from Kolkata. She and Rahman have collaborated on more than 40 shows around the world. Additionally, she shared a joint Instagram post on Tuesday announcing her separation from her husband, musician Mark Hartsuch. "Love is the most important thing we wish for everyone on the planet. We are grateful for all of the ways you have supported us. Please respect our privacy and be kind to us during this time in order to honor the decision we have made. A portion of her message said, "We would appreciate no judgments." Since the two announcements were so close to one another, many people had connected them, but Rahman and Saira's lawyer has now categorically denied it.

Vandana Shah also stated in an interview with Republic that Rahman and Saira Banu's breakup does not involve any financial issues. "Not just yet. It hasn't yet reached this point. The divorce would be amicable. They are both quite sincere, and they did not make this choice carelessly. "You wouldn't describe it as a sham marriage," she stated.

The separation of Saira and AR Rahman
After getting married in 1995, Rahman and Saira Banu had three kids together. Rahman tweeted, "We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end," on Twitter shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
