Texas A&M falls to Auburn football: Score-by-score recap, highlights

With a devastating loss against Auburn on Saturday, Texas A&M football's hopes of earning a position in the College Football Playoffs were severely damaged.

The Aggies rallied to grab a late lead after trailing 21-7 at the half. With four minutes remaining, Amari Daniels scored a touchdown run to give A&M a three-point lead. Auburn kicker Ian Vachon made a 41-yard field goal to force overtime, ending the team's 31-28 lead.

After the game shifted from touchdown attempts to 2-point conversion attempts, four overtime periods later, a Tiger completion and an Aggies drop put A&M out of the contest and maybe the tournament.

Thanks to an interception by Marcel Reed deep in Auburn's territory and a missed field goal by Randy Bond, the Tigers got ahead of the Aggies early in the game, scoring 21 points in a row.

A&M has given up explosive plays that put them in a deficit and has had trouble stopping the rushing game.

Auburn had 240 total yards at the end of the first two quarters, 190 of which came from the air. Cam Coleman, a freshman wide receiver who had four receptions, 112 yards, and two touchdowns going into the half, led them. Coleman finished with 128 yards from seven catches.
