Russian MPs warn that US missile strikes by Ukraine against Russia could spark a global conflict.

Senior Russian MPs stated on Sunday that Washington's decision to allow Kyiv to launch long-range American missile strikes deep into Russia intensifies the Ukrainian war and raises the possibility of World War Three.

Earlier on Sunday, two U.S. officials and a source with knowledge of the decision disclosed the dramatic turnaround of Washington's stance in the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Andrei Klishas, a senior member of the Federation Council, Russia's upper house of parliament, "the West has decided on such a level of escalation that it could end with the Ukrainian statehood in complete ruins by morning," while using the Telegram messaging app.

Moscow will react immediately, according to Vladimir Dzhabarov, first deputy head of the Russian upper house's international affairs committee.
Dzhabarov said, "This is a very big step towards the start of World War Three," according to the TASS state news agency.

In September, President Vladimir Putin declared that allowing Ukraine to use long-range missiles manufactured in the West to attack Russian territory would change the character and extent of the battle and that the West would be directly battling Russia.

According to Putin, Russia would have to make "appropriate decisions" in light of the new threats.

According to Russian news agencies, Leonid Slutsky, the chairman of the foreign affairs committee of the State Duma lower house, stated that the United States would take the most severe retaliation if Kyiv were authorized to target Russia with U.S. ATACMS tactical missiles.

Slutsky was quoted by the TASS news agency as saying, "U.S. missile strikes deep into Russian regions will inevitably entail a serious escalation, which threatens to lead to much more serious consequences."
