An official 'Letter of Intent' for hosting the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games has been sent by India to the IOC's Future Host Commission. India
India has made a significant first step toward hosting the Olympics. A 'Letter of Intent' to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games has been formally submitted to the Future Host Commission of the International Olympic Committee. According to a PTI report, the IOA submitted the letter on October 1, and India had multiple informal discussions with the IOC about the issue before making a final decision.A source in the sports ministry told PTI, "This enormous opportunity could bring substantial benefits, fostering economic growth, social progress, and youth empowerment across the country."
Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India discussed his government's goal to host the 2036 World Championship. During his September visit to New York this year, he again discussed the same topic.
"...the Paris Olympics ended just a few days ago. You will soon be able to see the Olympics in India as well. "We are making every effort to host the 2036 Olympics," Prime Minister Modi declared in New York.
India took home six medals at the just finished Olympics in Paris, including five bronze and one silver.
Before the IOC elections next year, a host will be chosen, and India will have to battle with competition from a number of other countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, who are putting themselves up as serious candidates to host the athletic event.
The country has advanced from the "Informal Dialogue" to the "Continuous Dialogue" phase of the host election process, nevertheless, with the submission of a "Letter of Intent."

At this point, the IOC does a "feasibility study" on the state of the Games-related projects in the prospective host.
"As part of the Feasibility Assessment, independent sources in a wide-ranging number of areas are taken into consideration, including in human rights, through Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), and sustainability, through the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)," the International Olympic Committee states on its official website.

The "Targetted Dialogue" stage of the procedure would involve submitting a formal bid tailored to the edition, which would be evaluated by the Future Host Commission.
A host election would be the final step in the process.
