In a new uptick in violence in the state, Manipur Police reported that ten armed Kuki "militants" were killed in "retaliatory firing" after they attacked security officers in Jiribam on Monday afternoon.At around 3 p.m., the individuals, who were carrying advanced weapons such as automatic rifles and a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), attacked a Central Reserve authorities Force (CRPF) position in the Borobekra-Jiribam region. According to the authorities, they were killed in "retaliatory firing." The Hmar tribal group is in charge of the region.
According to the police statement, a criminal case has been filed and the incident is being looked into.
The situation was brought under control following a fierce firefight that lasted for forty to forty-five minutes. Ten armed terrorists' dead bodies were found together with weapons and ammo after the area was investigated after the gunfire stopped, according to the statement.
