Following further violence, the center quickly sends 20 more CAPF companies to Manipur.

According to the sources who spoke to PTI, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) ordered the airlift and prompt deployment of these units on Tuesday evening.

In response to new attacks and law and order problems in the state, the Center has hurried 20 more CAPF companies, totaling over 2,000 soldiers, to Manipur, according to official sources on Wednesday.

According to the sources who spoke to PTI, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) ordered the airlift and prompt deployment of these units on Tuesday evening.

Insurgents wearing camouflage uniforms and carrying advanced weapons opened fire on the Borobekra police station and the nearby CRPF camp at Jakuradhor in Jiribam district on Monday, killing at least ten suspected militants in a bloody gunfight with the CRPF.

The force also seized a massive cache of advanced weapons after the intense gunfight.

Five companies from the Border Security Force (BSF) and 15 from the CRPF are among the 20 new Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) that have been ordered to be hurried to Manipur, according to sources.

Following the ethnic unrest that started in the state in May of last year and resulted in the deaths of 200 people, these units will join the 198 CAPF companies currently stationed there.

According to the sources, the deployment is anticipated to be prolonged, however all of these CAPF troops will remain available to the Manipur government until November 30 as directed by the MHA.

Since last week, Manipur has been experiencing high levels of tension as a result of new violence in Jiribam.

The state police claimed that after the Monday event, more violence was reported from several locations in the Imphal Valley where armed groups from the two opposing sides exchanged gunfire.
