Fans climb trees and carry ladders to witness Virat Kohli's first hit during India's net practice in Perth.

To get a sight of the superstar, who may be making his final tour to Australia, Virat Kohli fans scaled trees—some even carried their own ladders.

As India had their first full-fledged training session in Australia ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, former captain Virat Kohli, who arrived in Perth on Sunday as the first member of the Indian Test team, finally made an appearance at the WACA on Wednesday.

Prior to their net session on Wednesday, India apparently increased their privacy, but the administration flatly denied any involvement in secrecy. The West Australian said that black traps were placed over the practice area to prevent any public viewing. The cricket was subject to severe limitations.

To get a sight of the superstar, who may be making his final tour to Australia, fans reportedly climbed trees as soon as they learned of Kohli's visit, and some even carried their own ladders, according to a recent report by The West.

As he has during his years in Australia, where he has churned out knocks that have defined and re-defined his career, Kohli appeared completely at ease on the lively Australian surface. Despite taking a couple leg-side deliveries to his glove, the 36-year-old, who is now under fire after a poor run of form at home, appeared at ease against the rising ball before making his way to the spin net.

Sarfaraz Khan's difficulties persist
Sarfaraz displayed every sign of his maiden tour to Australia, whereas batsmen like Kohli and even Rishabh Pant, India's hero from the 2020–21 series victory in Australia, quickly adjusted from the dusty home ground to the bouncy Aussie pitches. After scoring just 21 runs in the final four innings against New Zealand, including a duck, the Mumbai hitter, who was included in the playing XI, is under scrutiny. He struggled against the short deliveries and sliced the ones outside off onto the stumps.

In the meantime, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were faced by Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who might be India's opening duo in Perth due to doubts about skipper Rohit Sharma's availability for the Border-Gavaskar series opener next week.

When Shibman Gill was batting in the nets, he appeared at ease against both spin and fast bowlers. He then had a brief conversation with Pant, who said, "Gill, very good energy."

India will play a three-day intra-squad competition at the WACA from Friday to Sunday after holding another full-fledged training session on Thursday.
