Claudio Ranieri will take over as Roma's caretaker for the rest of the season, his third time leading his local team.
Following Ivan Juric's firing late Sunday, the former manager of Chelsea, Leicester City, and Sampdoria has confirmed his return to the Giallorossi, becoming the team's fourth manager of the season. After a successful stay at Cagliari, where he secured their Serie A survival, Ranieri, 73, announced his retirement at the end of the previous season.
Roma, who are now in 12th place in the standings and are having their worst start in more than 20 years, are in a predicament that is remarkably similar to Ranieri's previous tenure in 2019.
Speaking to Ansa on the way to the airport for his return flight to Rome, Ranieri seemed optimistic despite the challenging situation.
"Is Roma a difficult nut to crack? They phoned me because of this! He made a joke. "Everything is ready—the good guys are on their way!"
