Bangladesh is targeting key aspects in their attempt to qualify for the World Cup directly with their innovations.

Bangladesh Women vs Ireland Women

Nigar Sultana, the captain of Bangladesh, stated on Tuesday that a convincing victory over Ireland will give them more confidence before their tour of the West Indies.

In order to qualify directly for the next ICC Women's World Cup, Bangladesh must win at least five of their next six One-Day Internationals. The hosts begin their quest on November 27 at the Sher-e-Bangla in the three-match series opener against Ireland.

In the current ICC Women's Championship cycle, Bangladesh has 13 points from 18 games. They face the West Indies in three games and Ireland in three. They will pass New Zealand, who are now in sixth place with 21 points, and earn straight qualification to the World Cup if they win five of the final six games.

"There is no doubt that the West Indies will present difficulties. We will have a psychological advantage moving into the next series if we can wrap it off well. Getting off to a good start is essential. This team has the ability to do well if we can get off to a good start and keep it going," Nigar told reporters on Tuesday.

"The World Cup has a long way to go. We must concentrate on each game for the time being. We have two bilateral series left, including this one. Points are important. The better course of action is to think series by series. Therefore, securing these points will be our primary goal," she continued.

With a victory, Bangladesh will make their eight-month comeback to the 50-over format, and Nigar says their main concerns are fielding and batting.

"Batting is an obvious problem. The middle order frequently struggles to recover when the top order fails to score. There isn't much space for rehabilitation in contemporary cricket. You can't get back what you've lost," Nigar added.

Concern has been raised about fielding. During the most recent World Cup, we lost because we missed important catches at vital times. Our preparatory camp, where we prioritized fielding and fitness over skill training, has placed a lot of emphasis on this," she remarked.

Fielding is an area that each person can develop, but when done as a team, it may have a big effect. I saw that each player in the India series had a unique personality. Building momentum will be aided if we can demonstrate the same here. It's easier to bat and bowl when you keep up momentum throughout a game," she continued.

Since Ireland, who are now rated eleventh, enters the series fresh off a victory over England, Nigar emphasized that the team is not losing sleep. She believes it will be difficult for the tourists to resist them in their own home.

Although they haven't played in these conditions before, Ireland has won the majority of their home games. Here, they have a very poor victory ratio. We had a far higher win rate against them in the past. Any team has an advantage when they play at home. We've done well in recent series, with the exception of the match against Australia," Nigar added.
