According to a recent revelation, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar co-owns 50% of the intellectual property for the beloved movie Singh Is Kinng, and the remake of the film cannot be done without his consent.

A significant bombshell was recently dropped by producer Shailendra Singh, who said that Singh Is Kinng will have a sequel—but with a twist. Singh revealed that he is considering Ranveer Singh or Diljit Dosanjh for the lead instead of Akshay Kumar, the original king. Devoted fans, who couldn't fathom the venerable comic series without its original lead, were offended by this decision. The latest information now suggests that since Khiladi Kumar owns 50% of the film's rights, the movie cannot be made without Akshay's consent.

The sequel to Singh Is Kingg depends on Akshay Kumar's approval, as he owns 50% of the film.
According to a recent Pinkvilla story, Akshay Kumar actually shares 50% of the rights to Singh Is Kinng, thus any ideas for a sequel must get his OK. According to a person familiar with the production, "50% of the intellectual property for Singh Is Kinng is owned by Akshay Kumar." If someone wants to make a part two, they must work with Akshay or get his NOC to proceed without him. When they find a fantastic story for it, Akshay and his crew will create a part two. They are not in the mood to give up the rights to Singh Is Kinng,"

As a tribute to his devoted following over the years, the insider also alluded to Akshay's future lineup of beloved franchises like Jolly LLB, Welcome, Housefull, and Bhagam Bhag. Akshay's legal team responded to Shailendra Singh's remarks by confirming his film rights and calling Singh's assertions about a sequel "entirely false." "From Jolly LLB to Welcome, Housefull & Bhagam Bhag, the comic franchises in the time to come - would be a return gift from his end for all the love over the years," the insider said.

Akshay Kumar's team statement
An representative from Akshay Kumar's legal team confirmed the news, saying, "Singh is Kinng ("Film") and all the rights, title, interest, etc. of the Film, while Mr. Akshay Kumar is the co-owner of the Film." All of the claims, comments, and other remarks made by Mr. Shailendra Singh regarding the film in the article that appeared in the newspaper Midday on November 11, 2024, are completely inaccurate and fraudulent. No one else, including Mr. Shailendra Singh, has the authority to create any prequels, sequels, franchises, etc. for the movie.

When Singh Is Kinng first came out in 2008, movie broke box office records for Akshay, and its soundtrack and dialogue are now considered classics in popular culture.
