According to a former aide, Biden need to step down so that Harris might become the first female US president.

Former Kamala Harris communications director Jamal Simmons contended that the action would reverse the outcome for Donald Trump, who surprised everyone by winning a second term as US president.

When a former Kamala Harris assistant suggested that Joe Biden should step down and appoint his deputy as the first female president of the United States until Donald Trump becomes office on January 20, 2025, she began the ball rolling. Harris's former communications director, Jamal Simmons, contended that the action would reverse Trump's fortunes, who surprised everyone by winning a second term as US president.

"Joe Biden has been an amazing president, fulfilling a great deal of his pledges. "Being a transitional figure is the only promise he can still fulfill," Simmons stated during a CNN program.

The action would relieve the Vice President of having to supervise the January 6 transfer of her own defeat, according to Simmons, who served on Harris's team from 2022 to 2023.

Kamala Harris might become the next president of the United States if Biden steps down within the next 30 days. Simmons added, "He could spare her from having to supervise the transition of her own defeat."

Despite his election victory, Trump won't be able to assume the presidency until January 20, 2025. The transition period between the election and the inauguration of the new president is four months, as stipulated by the US Constitution.

It's interesting to note that Kamala Harris will have to confirm Trump's election victory on January 6—a terrible pill to chew. Rarely does a vice president who was a presidential contender have to oversee the certification of their opponent's victory.

Simmons claimed that the action would be a chance for the Democrats to alter their viewpoint on the way the party functions.

"And it would make sure, it would dominate the news, at a point where Democrats have to learn drama and transparency and do things the public wants to see," he added.
