The accused According to reports, Rahul Chaudhary was cultivating a range of cannabis in pots at his tenth-floor apartment.
A man has been arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police for reportedly growing cannabis, popularly known as "ganja," in his Greater Noida apartment and selling it on the dark web.
Rahul Chaudhary, an English graduate, was allegedly using a sophisticated production system in his apartment on the tenth floor of the building to produce a variety of cannabis in plants, according to a PTI report.
Eighty ganja plants and more than two kilograms of cannabis were found in the accused's flat. He had spent around half a year growing cannabis. Saad Miya Khan, the deputy commissioner of police (Greater Noida), told PTI that he became involved in the illicit cultivation of contraband in his residence after being inspired by criminal dramas and web series.
DCP Khan claims that the local Beta-2 police station officers, in conjunction with those from the Ecotech-1 police station and the district's Anti-Narcotics Team, apprehended Chaudhary close to the P-3 roundabout in the Beta-2 neighborhood.
According to the report, authorities found almost 2.070 kg of cannabis and 163.4 grams of premium 'OG' cannabis after raiding his apartment, Flat No. 1001, Tower 5 at Parsvnath Panorama.
Chaudhary was allegedly growing cannabis in a completely controlled environment using sophisticated aeroponic techniques that he learned from internet sites, according to DCP Khan.
"He had invested in specialised equipment to regulate temperature, lighting and humidity within the flat, creating ideal conditions for growing cannabis without soil," said DCP Khan.
The senior police officer added that Chaudhary allegedly ordered seeds from foreign websites and communicated with purchasers using encrypted messaging services in order to evade detection.
Chaudhary conducted his business on the dark web.
"The setup would cost between ₹5,000 to ₹7,000 per plant, yielding high-quality cannabis that sold for upwards of ₹60,000 per 30-gram yield," the cop stated.
During the operation, the police found a number of fertilizers, insecticides, packing materials, and digital scales.
Additional judicial actions are under progress after a case was filed under pertinent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Additionally, a thorough examination of the accused's connections and network is still under progress.
