President-elect Donald Trump declared in a statement on Truth Social that former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley will not be joining his new administration.
On Sunday, US President-elect Donald Trump ruled out two well-known Republicans from his second term in office by announcing that former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would not be joining his new cabinet.Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, "I will not be inviting former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo or former Ambassador Nikki Haley to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation."
Originating in India During the Republican primary, Nikki Haley, a former governor of South Carolina, competed against Trump, scathingly denouncing him and claiming to be the candidate most qualified to unseat Joe Biden. Haley, however, endorsed Trump for president after withdrawing from the contest in March.
"The campaign was never about a position," she said in an August statement, indicating her disinterest in working in a prospective Trump government.
In a Wall Street Journal op-ed last week, Haley reaffirmed her support for Trump, saying, "I disagree with Ms. Harris almost all the time, and I don't agree with Mr. Trump 100% of the time, but I do agree with him most of the time. This makes the decision simple.
