NEW YORK (PIX11) — The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for New York City on Saturday due to the possibility of wind gusts above 30 mph.
According to the NWS, the warning indicates a high danger of fire beginning or spreading because of strong winds. The New York region is under the warning until 7:00 p.m.
Conditions will be extremely dry and windy, but it does not necessarily imply that there is a fire. It can get severe if there is a fire," the NWS wrote on X.
Wind gusts between 10 and 15 mph and as high as 31 mph are predicted. The weather will be largely dry and the temperatures will be in the upper 60s.
Some Diwali celebrations in New Jersey are being impacted by the weather. Residents of Edison were cautioned by officials not to use fireworks during Saturday's celebrations.
